Overnight the US carried out fresh airstrikes on Iranian targets, with Iran striking back at US bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan and Iraq, pushing Brent crude to around $95 a barrel — a five-week high, according to the Guardian’s business live coverage. UK 30-year government borrowing costs (gilt yields) rose to 5.89% on Tuesday, the highest since 1998, while 10-year yields hit their highest level since the 2008 financial crisis, the BBC reports.
