SOL Collapsible Dog Bowl Review: £4.99 for Two, Clips to Your Bag, Job Done

A dog on a hot day needs water at every stop, not just at home. Most owners know this in principle. Fewer have a bowl with them when it actually matters — because the one they own doesn’t fit in a pocket, isn’t attached to anything, or was left by the door.

The SOL collapsible dog bowl is £4.99 for two, weighs 49g each, clips to a bag strap with a carabiner, and folds flat when empty. There is not a lot more to say about the problem it solves.

What You Get

Two bowls in the pack, each 13cm in diameter when open — large enough for any size of dog to drink from comfortably. Made from food-grade silicone, BPA-free, and dishwasher safe. Each bowl comes with a carabiner clip, so it goes on a rucksack strap, a belt loop, a lead clip, or a car boot hook without taking up any deliberate space.

Folded flat, each bowl is about the thickness of a couple of pound coins. They live in a coat pocket, a bag side pocket, a car door pocket, or clipped to the outside of a bag. The kind of thing you stop noticing is there until the day you need it — which is exactly what you want.

Available in blue or orange. The carabiner also doubles as a drying hook — hang the bowl open after washing and it airs out without any effort.

Why It Belongs in Every Dog Walk Kit

Dogs dehydrate faster than humans in warm weather and cannot tell you they are thirsty. Panting is cooling work, and panting loses moisture rapidly. A dog that has been walking for an hour on a warm day needs water — not when you get home, but now.

The bowl clips to your bag so you have no excuse not to have it. Pair it with a standard 500ml bottle of water (refillable at any tap or drinking fountain you pass) and you have covered the single most important thing you can do for a dog on a warm walk for about £5 total.

At £4.99 for two, the second bowl has obvious uses: one clipped to the walk bag, one in the car, one at a friend’s house, one spare. You will think of several before you finish reading this.

The Honest Part

It is a silicone bowl. It holds water and food. It folds flat. It does not leak, it does not crack, it does not smell after washing. The carabiner is functional rather than heavy-duty — this is fine for its purpose, which is clipping a 49g bowl to a bag, not rigging a climbing harness.

With 473 reviews at 4.4 stars, there is not a meaningful durability complaint to be found. Some dogs will mouth the silicone rather than drink from it, which is a dog problem rather than a bowl problem.

What the Rest of the Team Think

🦆 Keith

“I have forty-seven of these across my bags, coat pockets, vehicles, and garage shelving. This may be slightly more than I need. I have not yet needed all forty-seven simultaneously but I am prepared for the scenario in which I do. Five stars.”

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

🪖 Black Panther

49 grams. Clips to the pack. Holds water. There is no argument against carrying it and no reason not to. Standard kit. Five stars.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

🤡 Camping Clown

I own a £340 titanium dog bowl with an integrated water filter, a temperature readout, and a UV sterilisation mode. My dog drinks from puddles regardless. This is £2.50 a bowl and clips to a bag and I cannot honestly tell you mine works better. Four stars.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

🐾 Weekend Warrior

Pickle has her own bowl clipped to her tactical harness. She approaches hydration with the same focus she brings to perimeter security. She drinks efficiently, shakes the excess water off with significant force, and resumes operations. Five stars. Pickle hydration protocol: fully operational.

“Snorgle.”
Translation: “The bowl is acceptable. The water was field temperature. I drank it anyway because I am a professional. Five stars.”

🐔 Chicken Licken

BPA-free confirmed. Food grade confirmed. The carabiner clip could theoretically be used to signal in morse code if separated from your group, which is worth knowing. No tracker found. I did note that the orange variant is considerably more visible from a distance, which cuts both ways. Four stars.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

📋 Calm Clarissa

One per household member, one per bag, two spares. All logged in the equipment inventory under Outdoor — Pets. Janet has confirmed they nest flat in the emergency grab bag without taking meaningful space. The carabiner is noted as a secondary attachment point in the kit manifest. Dishwasher safe is a significant practical advantage.

Okay the orange one clips to literally any bag and looks SO good with the right kit? I got the blue for my main bag and the orange for my day pack and honestly they’re both giving. My dog also approves. Five stars 💕

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

🌿 Aroura

I fill mine with moon water before walks so my dog stays spiritually hydrated as well as physically hydrated. The silicone does not interfere with the water’s energetic properties, which I checked. The blue resonates better with the throat chakra than the orange. Five stars. Namaste 🙏

Frequently Asked Questions

How much water does it hold?

The bowl is 13cm in diameter when open — enough for any size of dog to drink from comfortably. It is designed for top-up water stops on walks rather than replacing a full water bowl at home.

Is the silicone safe for dogs?

Yes — food-grade, BPA-free silicone, the same material used in human food and drink products. Dishwasher safe.

Will it leak when folded?

No — it folds completely flat when empty. It only holds water when open and in use.

Can I use it for food as well as water?

Yes. The listing covers both food and water use. Silicone does not absorb odours or stains, so switching between the two is not an issue.

How does the carabiner clip work?

A standard carabiner gate clip attaches to the folded bowl. Clip it to a bag strap, a belt loop, a lead clip, or hang it open for drying. Standard size, compatible with any bag attachment point.
