Status: Ongoing. As reported yesterday (30 July), a wildfire at Dunwich Heath near Leiston forced the evacuation of hundreds of residents and holidaymakers. The blaze has now spread to more than 80 hectares (200 acres) and a major incident remains declared, but Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service says the situation is stabilising, with at least 12 fire crews remaining on scene overnight.
